Just this past weekend there was a story in the travel section of the New York Times written by Andrea Peterson that asked the question, “What’s Missing?” Too often, renters using Airbnb, HomeAway or another vacation rental by owner site find the answer to that question is: “A LOT!”
Peterson notes towels (really, doesn’t everyone shower?), toilet paper, and sharp knives are the most frequently missing items. Our latest rental lacked dish towels, a dish rack and coffee cups. In one of the rentals we booked the host did provide toilet paper — one roll for a month-long stay. When that was gone we were told to buy our own. Be the host who never misses any of the details, is considered generous but still makes a profit, and gets five star ratings for every booking–check out the check lists in the soon-to-be-released Host for the Most.
